Epping Forest Centenary Trust was formed in 1978 to celebrate the centenary of the statutory protection of Epping Forest.
In 1878 growing pressure on Forest land with enclosures led to Queen Victoria passing the Epping Forest Act 1878. The Epping Forest Act passed Epping Forest into the care of the City of London who manage Epping Forest as an open space for recreation and conservation.
